Hotel Description
Tania?s is one of the few accommodations in Hopkins where you can see the
mountains of the Cockscomb Wildlife Basin Sanctuary and on a clear day
you can see Victoria Peak, the highest point in Belize. The Guest House
is also just a short walk from the beach front of the village. Tania?s
is one of the lowest-priced accommodations in Hopkins with all rooms
(even for 4 people) below US$25. The rooms are clean, comfortable, basic
and all have their own private bathroom. Some rooms also have TVs, hot
water and refrigerators. The owners live right on the premises and are
ready to serve the needs of their guests.
History & Owners
Maricela, originally from Western Belize, met and married Charlton who is
from Hopkins and they have made their home here. Maricela has learned
to speak Garifuna along with her children. She laughs and says that they
are ?Spanifuna? or a combination of Spanish and Garifuna. Charlton is
active in the community through the Tour Guide Association and the
Village Council when he is not working in Belize City. In addition to
taking care of the family and hotel, Maricela likes to remain active in
the community through playing on the softball team. They opened the
hotel as a way to serve people and to stay busy. The hotel is named
after their first daughter, Tania.

Location & Directions
Southside, Hopkins Village
From the Southern Highway, turn at the junction for Hopkins and travel approximately 3 miles to the village. Upon entering Hopkins when the road dead ends at a T, turn right towards the south. Tania?s is well-marked and located on the right side of the road about 1/3 mile down the road.
