Hotel Description
Seagull?s Nest offers two different options for accommodation: rooms in a
guest house or an entire cabin rental. In a stilted guest house that
catches the breeze and a clear view of the Caribbean Sea are simple rooms
with a shared bath. There is a common lounge area that includes a
refrigerator and coffee maker. One room downstairs has a private bath.
A second option directly next to the guest house is to rent an entire
concrete cabana that is right on the beach. This fully-furnished cottage
has 2 bedrooms, a kitchen and dining/living room area. This is ideal for
a longer term stay, although it can also be rented for shorter stays.
This hotel was a participant in an environmental walk-thru program aimed
at making hotels more eco-friendly. Both accommodations are clean, have a
great location by the beach and friendly service.
History & Owners
After spending just a little time along the seashore in Hopkins, it is
easy to see how this accommodation derived its name from the many
seagulls along the beach. Juanita Castillo was part of the women?s
cooperative that started Sandy Beach Lodge. After she went to school in
the USA for hotel and restaurant management, she decided to branch out on
her own and start this hotel. Juanita describes herself as a ?community
person? who loves working with people. She is former chairlady of the
Village Council and she remains active in the local community.

Location & Directions
Southside, Beachfront, Hopkins Village
From the Southern Highway, turn at the junction for Hopkins and travel approximately 3 miles to the village. Upon entering Hopkins when the road dead ends at a T, turn right towards the south. Go about 1/3 mile and turn left down the lane towards the beach. The last 2 buildings on the left belong to Seagull?s Nest. If you cannot find the owner, just go to the house directly next door to the concrete cabin and she can direct you to the where you can find the owner.
