Nature Resort
Bermudian Landing Village, Belize District
Hotel Description
Even if you are not a "wild thing," you can still ?come nest in nature?
with modern conveniences and privacy in the heart of the Community Baboon
Sanctuary. Eight different units with their own veranda are nestled
among sprawling trees and plants. The basic cabanas are made of wood and
have a shared bath. The deluxe cabanas have painted walls, local
artwork, private bathroom, mahogany furniture, small refrigerator,
minibar, and coffeemaker. One cabana also has a kitchen for those who
desire to cook their own food. The property extends through the
jungle all the way to the river. There are marked trails and canoes for
exploring the river along with the convenience of being adjacent to the
museum of the Baboon Sanctuary. Sometimes the howlers come right to the
edge of the property and guests can sit on their verandas and watch them
in the wild. Nature Resort offers friendly service and is ideal for
folks who love nature and still desire some of the creature comforts of
home.
History & Owners The Young family is one of the founding members of the Community Baboon
Sanctuary. Part of the community-based tourism plan for Community Baboon
Sanctuary included local families offering bed and breakfast to
backpackers and visitors. After several years of hosting guests, the
Youngs decided to open the hotel in 1997 in order to offer another
alternative for accommodations in the village. They chose the name
because they want everything to be natural since many visitors come to
the area and to Belize specifically for the natural beauty. Dr. Young,
who received his Ph.D. in agricultural education from Cornell University,
currently teaches at University of Belize, Belmopan Campus. His love for
the natural surroundings, gardening and farming draws him from the indoor
classroom to this outdoor one on a regular basis.
