Mara's Place
Caye Caulker
Hotel Description
Mara?s Place is one of the closest accommodations to the famous swimming spot on the island, The Split. The hotel is made up of the main property with eight units comprised of duplexes, a wooden cabana, and a ground floor (wheelchair accessible) unit. Each room is spectacularly clean with a lot of attention given to detail by including such things as bedside rugs to wipe the sand off your feet so that your bed doesn?t become a beach. Other items in each room include magazines and books, a television, bedside lamp, small ice chest, cutlery and glasses and a private veranda with hammocks & chairs. Mara's Place now has a second property featuring one apartment that is located in the center of the island. The apartment has a full kitchen, private bathroom with hot/cold shower, dining area, cable TV, fans, a pull-out futon, one bedroom (with a queen size bed) and a private porch. Whether you stay for a night or a week, Mary and her family welcome you to their extended home and hope you feel at home here!
History & Owners Mary Alamina started this accommodation with just one room in 1995. Now, a decade later the hotel has gradually grown to seven rooms and a second property with two apartments. Mary is a woman with a lot of determination, focus and care. She often incorporates new ideas and strives to make the place feel like home. The name ?Mara? was chosen because it is the middle name of Mary?s daughter. Everyone in the family helps to run the hotel.
