Isabel's Guest House
Belize City, Belize District
Hotel Description
From this historical building in the heart of the city, some rooms overlook the famous Swing Bridge. The sizeable rooms, which are immaculately clean, come fully-equipped with fans, bedside lamps, and private baths. One room offers TV, AC and a small refrigerator. There is a large lounge area on the upper floor which doubles nicely as a meeting space for small groups. Although it is one of the most central hotels in the city, within a stones throw to banks, the post office, grocery store and water taxi terminal, it is surprisingly quiet!
History & Owners Maria is one of three sisters originally from El Salvador who married into the Melhado family and manages this property. She loves being her own boss, especially as a woman! The building and house were constructed by her father-in-law in the late 1800?s. The Guest House is named after one of Maria?s sisters, Isabel. The three sisters also own the Three Sisters Guest House, located about 10 minutes from the downtown Isabel Guest House. They work cooperatively so if one guest house is full, they call the other to see if there is space.
