Best Hotel Practices

Toucan Trail hotels seek to provide affordable services while maintaining high standards and commitment to quality. Each hotel participating in the Toucan Trail program signs a pledge of good business practice as outlined below.

  • Provide clean and affordable accommodations under US$60.00/night.

  • Operate a licensed property that follows the rules and regulations of the Hotel Act and which exceeds minimum standards established therein.

  • Ensure that all advertising and marketing for the property accurately and truthfully reflects the products and services of the property.

  • Communicate promptly with potential guests through an established and reliable means of communication and to honor reservations.

  • Ensure the safety and security of all guests staying at the property.

  • Treat all guests with equal respect and dignity regardless of differences in race, religion, cultural origin, language, gender or economic status.

  • Act in an environmentally responsible manner, educate and encourage guests to use basic water and energy conservation practices.

  • Value and respect staff and employees by following the rules of the Labor Act, providing training, instruction and a safe working environment.

  • Develop and improve the services offered by the property through participation in relevant training and product development opportunities.

  • Support and participate in local community projects especially those that encourage positive interest and visitation in the area.

  • Uphold the reputation of the Toucan Trail Project by providing quality, safe and affordable adventure and accommodation to all visitors.
