Community Based Tourism

The Belize District is home to one of the first efforts of community-based tourism programs in Belize. The Community Baboon Sanctuary began as an idea between local resident, Fallet Young, and researcher Rob Horwich. Today, the CBS is one of the most unique and successful effort in the country and serves as a model that has spread to Rancho Dolores and Spanish Creek Wildlife Sanctuary, both communities along the Belize River Valley.
